Alex Doolan is a young wicket-keeper-batsman who first played for Tasmania in
the 2008/9 season, making his first-class bow against New South Wales in the
Sheffield Shield.
He scored two centuries in his first 13 matches, along with four half-centuries as
he made a fine start to his career.
The presence of Tim Paine in the side means that Doolan regularly plays as a
specialist batsman, starting his career at the pivotal number three position and
quickly asserting himself as a key member of the Tigers’ squad.
His maiden century came in December 2009, when he scored 135 against
Western Australia in Hobart.
