Ross Taylor, New Zealand

Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor is an exciting talent, bursting onto the scene in the with a flamboyant unbeaten 128 in the 2006/7 One Day series with Sri Lanka. He had made his debut against the West Indies, scoring 15 but his century in just his third outing has marked him down as one to follow in the future for New Zealand.

He made his Test debut on New Zealand's 2007/8 tour of South Africa, but failed to make any score higher than 17, but given a superb first class record for Central Districts and his apparently seamless step up from domestic to international cricket ensured that he was given a long run in the side, and he responded by hitting two centuries against England in 2008, including a superb unbeaten 154 at Old Trafford.

He has now played in more than 50 ODIs for New Zealand, averaging over 40 and with a strike-rate of over 80 and the retirement of a number of players means he has been forced to take on a more responsible role in the side, something he appears to have adapted to nicely.
