Ashwell Prince

South Africa

Ashwell Prince is a stylish left-hand batsman and sometime captain of the South African national team. He made his Test debut against Australia at Johannesburg in 2002, scoring 49 and 28 as Australia won by an innings. His one day debut came later that year against Bangladesh in Kimberley where he helped seal victory with 14 not out.

He became the first black player to captain South Africa when he took charge of the tour of Sri Lanka in 2006. He has established himself as a key member of the South African middle-order in Tests, but has lost his place in the one-day team.
