Marcus Trescothick

England

Marcus Trescothick was born on Christmas Day 1975 and his total of 14 Test hundreds and 12 One Day International tons has proved a welcome gift for England fans.

Trescothick burst onto the international scene in 2000 making his ODI debut versus Zimbabwe in July and in August appearing in his first Test against the West Indies. Trescothick has never looked back since his impressive debut summer. He was instrumental in helping England defeat Australia in the 2005 Ashes series.

The Somerset left-hander has hit 5825 Test runs and 34313 One Day International runs whilst opening the England innings. Trescothick’s aggressive no-nonsense batting style endears him to the paying public. Marcus is nonetheless a more than impressive performer in Tests, the Somerset man holds a Test batting average of more than 43.79, with a top score of 219.
